Lactase tablets side effects

Lactase tablets are generally well tolerated and do not cause any side effects.
The reason why lactase cannot cause side effects is because of how it works. Lactase is an enzyme that is responsible for breaking down lactose, also known as milk sugar. This means that lactase does not react with the body itself, but only with milk sugar. Otherwise, the lactase has no effect and is excreted from the body after use.

However, an important note: lactase tablets should only be taken by people with lactose intolerance. The tablets are of no use for people without lactose intolerance, as the body is able to digest milk sugar itself without any problems because it produces sufficient lactase. In this case, additional intake of lactase neither supports digestion nor makes the consumption of lactose more digestible.
