Macronutrients

Macronutrients are the cornerstones of our diet. Without them, our bodies would not be able to function, as they not only provide us with energy, but also with the building blocks from which cells, muscles, hormones, and many other structures are formed. There are three main groups: carbohydrates, proteins, and fats. Each of these nutrients performs different tasks in the body, from providing quick energy to repairing and building tissue to supporting important bodily functions such as hormone production and brain performance.

Macronutrients and Longevity

It is important to note that we need all three macronutrients, but not in arbitrary quantities; rather, they must be consumed in a balanced ratio. Too much or too little of one building block can throw our well-being and health out of balance in the long term. That is why not only nutritionists but also longevity researchers are looking into how we can make optimal use of these nutrients to maintain energy, performance, and healthy cells into old age.
