Electrolytes are important for our body
There are many reasons why the human body loses fluid. Athletes in particular lose a lot of water through sweating during sport, through which they also lose electrolytes. Electrolytes are substances that carry an electric charge when dissolved in water. Important electrolytes include potassium, magnesium, sodium, phosphorus and chloride. We refer to the even distribution of electrolytes throughout the body as our electrolyte balance. Getting enough electrolytes and liquids is essential for our bodies. This is why athletes often drink water containing minerals before, during and after sport.
It is not just sport that can cause the body to lose minerals, and therefore important electrolytes. Other environmental conditions or high temperatures, drinking alcohol at parties, as well as illnesses such as diarrhoea and vomiting can lead to our bodies losing important minerals. Recommended intake
- Dissolve one tablet in a glass of water (500 ml) 2 times a day.
